- What
do I need to do to send you a motor for repair?
- Simply
call for an RMA (Return Materials Authorization) number. Next, ship your motor to us with the RMA number and as
much information as possible including, company name,
contact, symptoms of failure and any other information
relating to the failure of the motor. (For your convenience,
we have an on-line "Shipping Form" you may complete and either email to our facility
or print a copy to ship with your motor.)
-
Do
you repair servos manufactured by "XXX"?
-
More
than likely we will be able to repair your servo for
you - no matter who manufactured the motor. Since 1982
we have repaired servos from hundreds of manufacturers
from around the world. We've developed a proprietary
process that allows us to quickly reverse engineer complex
servo motors, stepper motors, spindle motors, and feedback devices. However, these motors
must be intact - not tampered with or disassembled in
any way! Parts availability can be a problem.
However, we have an extensive parts database complete
with international contacts that typically allow us
to locate all parts necessary for repair.

How
does your normal repair service work?

Approximately
three working days after we receive the motor, we will
fax you a quote. Repair is typically completed within
7 to 10 working days after your approval. Parts availability can
be a problem and turnaround time can be delayed. However,
we have an extensive parts database complete with international
contacts that typically allows us to locate all parts
necessary. If a faster turnaround time is needed, we
offer an expedite service that
typically reduces turnaround time to 24 to 48 hours
in-house. In some cases, repair is accomplished and
the motor shipped the same day it is received.

What
is A-1 Servo's Warranty?
-
Our
warranty is simple: Every device we rebuild has a minimum
90-day warranty that covers parts and workmanship. However,
we understand that a motor may sit on your shelf unused
(as a spare) for longer than 90 days. Consequently,
our warranty time is based more upon our evaluation
of the motor and its condition rather than the exact
date the rebuild was completed. Our objective is to
be fair. This statement in no way modifies or changes
in any way our official warranty. Our official warranty
is available upon request.
-
How
will you test the servo I send you?
-
Every
device is tested both statically and dynamically to
insure proper operation. Encoders, resolvers and tachometers
are adjusted to the correct timing, waveform shape,
offset position, voltage level, etc. Every effort is
made to reduce stray electrical noise to the lowest
possible level, if not eliminate it completely.
Electrical
parts are tested for high voltage leaks, shorts, grounds
and overall physical condition. Motors are tested for
vibration, current draw, back EMF, torque, temperature
rise, shaft runout, keyway condition, balance, acceleration
rate, magnetic field strength, magnet position and mechanical
integrity, brush spring pressure, correct brush compound,
etc. On low inertia motors, start/stop ramps are tested
to verify acceleration capabilities. Completed motors
are run-in for 24 hours (except emergency rebuilds).
